MiniDrones Film Festival Poster for Team Canada

In 2014 I was lucky to be part of the Canadian team for the International MiniDrone Short Film Festival. One of my duties was to design the film poster. Jon (the Director) wanted the poster to have a Star Wars feel, so I referenced the great Drew Struzan. Jon and I brain stormed a mash up between Drew's 1997 "New Hope" Special Edition poster and his 1980 "Empire Strikes Back" poster. We only had a total of four days to complete the film so time was very tight. I did the poster from start to finish in about eight hours. To save time at the start I setup a photo shoot on set to get the character reference poses as the their scenes were being shot. The vertical poster on the left is the photo mock up from that shoot. As you go right it progresses to the final poster design. Along the top is a horizontal banner version used to promote the film online. Check out the film by following the link below.
